All pupils could find a piece of work from a lesson they enjoyed, some children could talk about what they had learned within that lesson

Pupils said that their Power Maths books help them understand their learning

Pupils said they enjoy using white boards in lessons

Pupils said that retrieval gets you thinking about maths and spoke positively about this aspect of their lesson

(On the whole) pupils said the working walls in their classrooms are used to help them in lessons

Maths Whizz is helping their maths by reminding them of what they have learnt, being a fun way to learn, challenging them and being accessible at home

There was an increased use of Kahoot quizzes in maths 

Equipment was used more frequently

Pupils asked for more time on their chrome books in maths

All pupils were able to confidently speak about an aspect of their learning this half term.

Y6 pupils talked about using the chunking method to divide

Y5 pupils recognised that, through lots of opportunity to practise, they had become more confident with the multiplication of 2 digit numbers

Y4 pupils felt confident with finding the area of shapes and recognised that knowing their multiplication facts helps with this

Y3 pupils recalled learning about multiplying by 7

Y2 pupils said they have been learning about what multiplication is

Y1 shared about using their fingers to help with their number work

 

Pupils from various year groups spoke positively about challenges in maths lessons and some pupils asked for more challenge. 

Partner work, the use of the Power Maths workbook and retrieval were all identified as favourite parts of our daily maths lessons

In relation to fluency...

Y3 could partition a given number in different ways, could use a number line to place a given number and were able to use a formal written method to add a 2 digit number to a 3 digit number

Y6 pupils could use a given multiplication calculation to answer related facts

Year 1 and year 2 pupils could, with some prompting, recall some number bonds to 10 and 20, respectively

No pupils appeared familiar with the term pictorial representations 

Pupils spoke again about wishing for more outdoor learning opportunities in maths lessons

Pupils had more known facts at their disposal
