Autumn 1 Feedback

WWW

  • All children said they have a French lesson every week.
  • All said they enjoy their French lessons.
  • They have particularly enjoyed completing wordsearches and playing bingo and Kahoot.
  • They said they have learnt about a famous French person and really enjoyed it.

 

EBI

  • Some said they would like more games included in lessons.
  • They said that they would like to be able to spend more time on French lessons. 

Autumn 2 Feedback

WWW

  • All children said they enjoy having a French lesson every week.
  • They have particularly enjoyed completing wordsearches and playing bingo and Kahoot.
  • They said they have learnt about a famous French person and really enjoyed it.

EBI

  • Some said they feel like they don’t have time to play games and would like more games included in lessons.
  • They said that sometimes lessons feel rushed because you’ve got music and retrieval after. 

 

Spring 1 Feedback

WWW

  • All pupils said they enjoy their lessons and find them fun.
  • Pupils reported that they use Rigolo regularly and really enjoy working with it.
  • They found it interesting learning how adjectives are positioned differently in expanded noun phrases in French.
  • Pupils enjoy learning about famous French people and were able to name several and explain why they are significant in France.
  • They explained that lessons follow a consistent structure, which helps them know what to expect and supports their learning.

 

EBI

  • Pupils said they would like to play more games during lessons.
  • Pupils also said they would like lessons to be longer. It was explained to them that we understand their views and are not ignoring this feedback; however, the current timetable does not allow for additional lesson time.

 

Spring 2 feedback

What Went Well (WWW)

  • All pupils were able to recall what they have been learning over the past term.
  • Pupils understood the importance of learning French, explaining that it helps when travelling, supports communication with French-speaking peers, and prepares them for more advanced study in secondary school.
  • They demonstrated knowledge of key facts about France, including its location across the English Channel, some basic grammar rules (such as the use of capital letters), and different ways to travel there (e.g. plane, ferry, Eurotunnel, or train).
  • All pupils knew how to use the dictionary in the back of their books to help them remember vocabulary.
  • Pupils expressed enjoyment of interactive elements, particularly games in French lessons.
  • One pupil shared that they enjoy French because it feels less pressured than other subjects, saying it helps them relax and feel less worried about making mistakes.

Even Better If (EBI)

  • Include more games to further engage pupils.
  • Provide more opportunities for all children to participate in activities such as the Rigolo whiteboard tasks.
  • Children would like their lessons to be longer, we discussed how this is not possible at the moment due to timetable restrictions.
