Department for Rights and Justice

Link Teacher: Mrs Mitchell.

On 19th September 2024, the Ministers for this department took part in a virtual meeting with other members of the Forward as One Pupil Advisory Board, led by Mr Brown. During the session, the children explored the meaning of the terms:

Rights – the fair and equal entitlements that every person should have.

Justice – the rules, laws, and systems that help ensure all people are treated fairly and with respect.

As part of their ongoing leadership work, the children focused on Article 28 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). This article states that every child has the right to an education, regardless of their background, gender, race, or any disability.

To raise awareness of this right within our school, the pupil Ministers led an informative assembly for the whole school community. Following this, pupils across the school completed questionnaires to reflect on how well this right is being upheld at All Saints’.

Children were also invited to design posters or presentations to celebrate the ways in which staff and pupils work together to ensure that education at All Saints’ is inclusive, accessible and fair for everyone.

This important work supports our Christian values of justice, respect, equality and compassion, and reinforces our belief that every child is valued and supported in reaching their full potential and letting their light shine.
