Department for Health and Wellbeing

On 19th September 2024, the pupil Ministers for this department joined other members of the Forward as One Pupil Advisory Board in a virtual meeting led by Mr Brown. The session began with a discussion on the meanings of two key concepts:
• Health – being free from illness, staying physically active and maintaining good physical fitness.
• Wellbeing – having positive mental health, emotional stability and feeling safe, supported and happy.
The children were then introduced to Article 24 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). This article states that every child has the right to the best possible healthcare. It highlights the responsibility of governments to provide:
• Quality health services
• Access to clean water and nutritious food
• A clean and safe environment
• Education on health and wellbeing

To share this learning with the wider school community, the Ministers led an assembly to explain the importance of Article 24. Pupils across school then completed a questionnaire to reflect on how this right is currently being met at All Saints’.
In addition, children were invited to create posters and presentations to illustrate how staff at All Saints’ support their health and wellbeing every day. These creative responses celebrated our school’s commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles, emotional resilience and a nurturing, caring environment for all.
Our work in this department aligns closely with our Christian values of compassion, care, respect, and responsibility, helping every child to flourish both physically and emotionally.
