PSHE

Mrs Huddy is the Subject Leader for PSHE, supported by the whole school leadership team, who are all deeply committed to promoting the personal development and wellbeing of every child at All Saints’. PSHE is not just a subject we teach—it is a vital part of our school culture and values, woven throughout everyday life in school.

Although PSHE only became statutory in primary schools in 2020, it has long been a key part of our curriculum at All Saints’. We recognise the importance of equipping children with the knowledge, skills, and understanding they need to lead confident, healthy, safe, and responsible lives.

Our PSHE curriculum covers three key areas:

Health and Wellbeing

Relationships

Living in the Wider World (including citizenship, financial education, and British values)

These areas are taught through weekly class sessions and are enriched by our collective worship, class discussions, themed days and wider curriculum opportunities.

We follow a carefully planned and age-appropriate PSHE programme that includes high-quality resources such as Picture News, which helps children engage with current events in a safe and meaningful way. This resource supports our teaching of British Values, democracy, and global awareness, encouraging children to explore their own opinions while respecting the views of others.

At All Saints’, we place strong emphasis on:

Emotional wellbeing and mindfulness

Healthy relationships and respect for others

Online safety and digital responsibility

Mental and physical health awareness

Citizenship and community involvement

Our approach helps children build resilience, empathy, self-esteem, and social skills, preparing them for life both inside and beyond the school gates.

PSHE is also central to our safeguarding and behaviour ethos, supporting pupils in making safe and informed choices. As part of our commitment to the statutory Relationships and Health Education (RHE) guidance set out by the Department for Education, we ensure that all learning is inclusive, age-appropriate,and aligned with our Christian values.

In every class, PSHE helps children to reflect, express themselves and grow into respectful, thoughtful and well-rounded individuals. We want our pupils to leave All Saints’ not just with knowledge, but with compassion, confidence and a strong moral compass.
