French
Mrs Jackson is our Subject Leader for French and leads the development of language learning across the school.
At All Saints’, we believe that learning a new language offers children far more than just the ability to speak and write in French—it provides an invaluable cultural, educational and social experience. Through language learning, pupils build confidence in communication, develop curiosity about other cultures and gain a broader understanding of the world around them.
Our French curriculum is delivered through weekly lessons, designed to progressively build skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing. Lessons are fun, interactive, and purposeful, helping children to develop a love of languages from an early age.
Pupils gradually acquire and apply a growing bank of vocabulary, organised around engaging and relevant topics. This enables them to use French with increasing confidence and fluency as they move through the school.
We have worked closely with a consultant from Lancashire County Council to support the development of our new French curriculum. We are excited to continue embedding this across the school and look forward to seeing our pupils thrive as confident young linguists.
