All Saints' Reaching Out

Let Your Light Shine

“Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Matthew 5:16

At All Saints’, we believe that every child is unique and precious in God’s eyes. As a Christian school, we encourage all members of our community to let their light shine by using their gifts and talents to serve others, show compassion, and make a positive difference in the world around them.

We recognise the importance of teaching our children to care for others—both within our own school community and beyond. By helping pupils to understand that not everyone’s life experiences are the same, we foster empathy, gratitude and a heart for service. This not only supports their spiritual development, but also helps them grow into responsible, respectful and caring global citizens.

We aim to build strong, meaningful links both within our local community and across the wider world, giving children real-life opportunities to live out the Christian values we teach and model—compassion, generosity, service and love. Our outreach work also encourages children to reflect on how they can use their time, energy and voice to support those in need.

Throughout the school year, we support a range of local, national and international charities, often welcoming visitors into school to help our children better understand the needs of others. These activities allow pupils to develop leadership skills, grow in confidence and act with courage and kindness as they respond to the world around them.

We are immensely proud of the way our children and families engage so wholeheartedly in charity and community work. Whether it’s collecting for a food bank, fundraising for global causes, or simply being a friend to someone in need, our children are truly letting their light shine.

Below is an overview of our planned charity and community outreach programme for 2025–2026, which links directly to our Christian values and helps nurture the leadership potential of every child through the value of service.

Reaching Out Within Our School Community

At All Saints’, we understand that the past few years have been challenging for many of our families. Changes in personal circumstances, financial pressures and new or unfamiliar difficulties can leave people feeling overwhelmed. Please know that you are not alone.

As a Christian school, we are deeply committed to living out our Christian values of compassion, service and love, offering support without judgment. If you or your family are facing any kind of difficulty, we encourage you to reach out—whether in person, by phone, or via message. No concern is ever too small and there is no need to feel embarrassed about seeking help.

We work closely with a wide range of organisations, charities, and external agencies, and can provide practical support, guidance, and a listening ear. Whether it’s a helping hand, a conversation, or simply a warm cup of tea, our door is always open.

Mrs Huddy and Mrs Saporita-Clark are available to speak with you at any time, and are also present at our termly coffee mornings. These informal sessions offer an opportunity to chat with staff and access support from a variety of professionals and services—all in a relaxed, friendly environment.

Please remember, you are never alone, and you will always be met with kindness, understanding, and support at All Saints’. We are here to walk alongside you, rooted in faith, love, and community.

Supporting Nicholas – Fundraising for a Friend- July 2025

This year, our Year 6 children showed incredible compassion and determination as they came together to support their classmate, Nicholas, who was sadly diagnosed with leukaemia. Through a variety of fundraising activities—including sponsored walks, football cards, selling hampers and many more—the children, alongside our school community, raised an amazing £1,500.

With these funds, we were able to purchase an electric wheelchair for Nicholas. This gift has provided him with greater independence while he undergoes treatment and has been a source of support during a very difficult time.

In the spirit of helping others, the wheelchair will later be donated to Manchester Children’s Hospital, where Nicholas and his family have been so wonderfully cared for. We hope this wheelchair will continue to help other children in their times of need.

At All Saints’, we are proud of the way our children live out our values and truly let their light shine. By supporting Nicholas and his family, our Year 6 pupils and pupils from other year groups, have shown what it means to be part of a caring and compassionate school community.

Year 4 Community Afternoon Tea – May 2025

Our Year 4 pupils were proud to host a wonderful Community Afternoon Tea, warmly welcoming members of the local community into school.

The children spent a joyful afternoon chatting with guests, sharing cakes and biscuits and playing board games together. It was a fantastic opportunity for pupils to demonstrate their hospitality, kindness and leadership, while building meaningful connections with members of our wider school family.

We were truly touched by the kind words from our guests, many of whom shared how much they value these events and how welcome and appreciated they feel at All Saints’. These moments beautifully reflect our Christian ethos and our aim to ensure everyone feels part of our caring, inclusive community.

The Impact of Our Fundraising for Sponsor Children in Uganda – February 2025

Following the incredible success of our Dance-a-thon in November, we are delighted to share the tangible and life-changing impact your generosity has made.

Thanks to the outstanding efforts of our children, families and staff, we have been able to provide the gift of education to three young children in Uganda—Angel, Feredericko, and Elizabeth. Through the funds raised, these children now have access to full-time schooling, including uniforms, meals and accommodation and the opportunity to build a brighter future.

We were proud to see All Saints’ featured in the Nkuringo Education and Community Support newsletter, recognising the contribution of our school community and celebrating the difference our support is making in these children’s lives.

It is deeply moving to know that our collective efforts have provided not just practical support, but hope, opportunity and a future for these children. This is a powerful reminder of how, by living out our Christian values and letting our light shine, we can make a lasting difference in the world around us.

Thank you again to everyone who took part in or supported our fundraising—it truly is changing lives.

Supporting Local Charity – The Cancer Bank- February 2025

At All Saints’, we are proud to continue our partnership with The Cancer Bank, a local charity supporting individuals affected by cancer.

Throughout this half term, our school community has been actively involved in collecting much-needed items to support those undergoing treatment. In addition to the donations, we held a non-uniform day, with all proceeds going directly to the charity.

A group of our Year 6 pupils also showed initiative and compassion by organising a bake sale, baking cookies and raising additional funds to support the cause.

In total, we raised £242, which was presented to Dan Theobald, the founder of The Cancer Bank, during his visit to school. Dan led a KS2 assembly, thanking pupils for their generosity and sharing how their contributions make a real difference to people living with cancer.

This initiative reflects our continued commitment to serving others, living out our Christian values, and encouraging our pupils to let their light shine through acts of kindness and compassion.

Year 5 Hosts Christmas Community Afternoon Tea – December 2024

Our Year 5 pupils warmly welcomed members of the local community to a special Christmas Afternoon Tea. The event provided a wonderful opportunity for our children to engage with guests through friendly conversation, games and festive cheer.

The children showed great maturity, kindness and hospitality as they served refreshments, played board games and spent meaningful time getting to know the visitors. It was heartwarming to see intergenerational connections being made and to witness our pupils living out our Christian values, particularly service and fellowship, during the Christmas season.

We are incredibly proud of our Year 5 pupils for letting their lights shine and helping to strengthen the ties between our school and the wider community.

Spreading Christmas Cheer – December 2024

In the lead-up to Christmas, the children at All Saints’ created beautifully thoughtful handmade Christmas cards for local residents in our community. This act of kindness was part of our commitment to living out our Christian values and reminding others that they are valued and remembered during the festive season.

The cards were then delivered to homes in the local area, spreading joy and letting members of our wider community know that they are in our thoughts. This simple gesture helped strengthen the sense of connection between our school and the neighbourhood, showing that we are all part of one caring and inclusive community.

It was a lovely opportunity for our pupils to let their light shine through compassion, creativity and service.

All Saints’ Dance-a-thon Fundraiser – November 2024

We have been truly overwhelmed by the generosity and support shown by our All Saints’ families and wider school community during our recent sponsored Dance-a-thon. The enthusiasm and dedication of our pupils have been nothing short of inspiring.

We are thrilled to announce that the event raised an incredible £2,500. Thanks to this phenomenal effort, we are now able to provide three full years of education for Angel, Feredericko and Elizabeth in Uganda. This includes school tuition, a brand-new uniform each year, meals and accommodation, with Feredericko also supported into secondary education.

This act of generosity will have a life-changing impact. By supporting their education, our children and families have opened the door to a brighter future for these three young people. Elizabeth and Feredericko both dream of attending university—hoping to become a doctor and a teacher—and this support brings them significantly closer to achieving those goals.

In 2019, Mrs Collins visited Uganda and witnessed first-hand the challenges these children face. It brings great joy to know that, through our school’s compassion and action, we can now offer the precious gift of education—a gift that truly transforms lives.

A heartfelt thank you to every child, parent, carer and supporter who contributed. You have let your light shine in a remarkable way.

Visit from Bishop Philip – November 2024

We were honoured to welcome Bishop Philip to All Saints’ in November 2024. During his visit, he led a whole-school worship focused on compassion, our Christian value for the half term.

Bishop Philip spoke to the children about the importance of showing kindness and understanding to others, both within our local community and across the world. He also expressed his gratitude for the compassion shown by our school family through generous donations to the local food bank during our Harvest Festival and for the £100 raised in support of his Harvest Appeal.

It was a meaningful and memorable visit that inspired both pupils and staff to continue living out our school vision of ‘letting your light shine’ through acts of service and love for others.

Poppy Appeal – November 2024

As part of our ongoing commitment to remembering and honouring those who have served, our school community supported the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal this November.

Children and families generously made donations in exchange for poppies and other remembrance items. We are extremely proud to share that together we raised £145.98 for this important cause.

This act of giving reflects our Christian values and reminds us all of the importance of service, remembrance and gratitude.

Children in Need – November 2024

To support this year’s Children in Need appeal, our school community took part in a “Wear Something Spotty” day. It was wonderful to see so many creative outfits on display, all worn in the spirit of giving.

Together, we raised an incredible £197.20 to support vulnerable children and young people across the UK.

This event linked beautifully to our half-termly Christian value focus of compassion, as we reflected on the importance of showing kindness to others and supporting those facing challenges in their lives.

We are so proud of our children for their generosity and empathy — they truly let their light shine.

Generosity in Action

At All Saints’, we love to celebrate the ways in which our children demonstrate our Christian values beyond the classroom.

We were delighted to receive a message from Henry’s mum, sharing how he has once again supported her work by helping to send in gifts to Dunelm’s ‘Delivering Joy’ Campaign, in aid of Child Action North West, ELHT and CARITAS.

This thoughtful contribution is a wonderful example of our half-termly value generosity in action — giving time and kindness to help others. We are incredibly proud of Henry for letting his light shine and making a positive difference in the lives of others within our wider community.

All Saints’ Day – November 2024

To mark All Saints’ Day, each class at All Saints’ CE Primary School chose a saint to learn about and celebrate when school reopened after the half-term break on Monday 4th November.

As part of the celebration, children came to school dressed in colours associated with their chosen saint and contributed a £1 donation. The funds raised will be presented to the Bishop during his visit on 13th November, to support his chosen charity.

The day was a vibrant and meaningful occasion that reflected our Christian foundation. Children were eager to share fascinating facts about their chosen saints and it was inspiring to hear how much they had learnt and understood about the lives of these individuals who dedicated themselves to faith and service.

Each class chose the following saints and colours:

EYFS: Saint Nicholas – Wearing red

Willow (Year 1): Saint John – The saint of love, loyalty, and friendship – Wearing green

Maple (Year 1/2): Saint Theresa – Wearing white

Hazel (Year 2): Saint George – Wearing red

Beech (Year 3): Saint John the Baptist – Wearing pink

Sycamore (Year 4): Saint Anne (Mary’s mother) – Wearing blue

Elder (Year 5): Saint Bernadette – Wearing purple

Oak (Year 6): Saint Francis of Assisi – Patron saint of animals and charity – Wearing black

Our All Saints’ Day celebration provided a meaningful opportunity for children to reflect on the lives of those who have let their light shine through faith, compassion and service — values we seek to live out every day in our school community.

Harvest Festival – October 2024

At All Saints’, our annual Harvest Festival was a wonderful opportunity for the whole school community to reflect on and live out our half-termly Christian value of Generosity.

Pupils and families donated an impressive amount of non-perishable food items, which were distributed to local food banks to support those in need within our immediate community. In addition, monetary donations were collected for the Bishop’s Harvest Appeal, which this year supports The Women’s Literacy Project in Multan, Central Pakistan – a transformative initiative helping to empower women through education.

We are incredibly proud of the kindness and compassion shown by our children and their families. These generous contributions will have a meaningful impact both locally and globally, truly allowing our All Saints’ community to let their light shine.

Macmillan Coffee Morning – September 2024

In support of Macmillan Cancer Support, our Year 6 pupils proudly led our annual Macmillan Coffee Morning. Demonstrating our Christian value of generosity, which is the focus for this half term, the children and their families kindly donated a wide variety of cakes and sweet treats.

We were delighted to welcome members of the local community into school to enjoy a cup of coffee, share in conversation and support a very worthy cause. The event was a wonderful opportunity for our children to live out our school vision, “Let your light shine” (Matthew 5:16), through service and compassion.

Thanks to the kindness and generosity of our school family and community, we are proud to share that we raised over £300 for Macmillan Cancer Support, helping to make a difference in the lives of those affected by cancer.

Year 5 Community Summer Afternoon Tea – July 2024

Our Year 5 pupils hosted the final Community Afternoon Tea of the school year – a heart-warming event once again enjoyed by all who attended.

Guests from the local community joined us for an afternoon of friendly games including chess, Uno and snakes and ladders, while enjoying tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits kindly prepared and served by the children.

As part of the afternoon’s entertainment, the pupils performed a selection of songs with great enthusiasm and confidence, creating a joyful and welcoming atmosphere. Their warm hospitality and musical talents were a true reflection of our school’s Christian values, particularly that of service and fellowship.

A huge well done to Year 5 for leading such a successful event, and thank you to all our visitors who joined us in building meaningful connections within our local community.

Supporting Local Charity – The Cancer Bank (May 2024)

This half term, the children and families of All Saints’ have been living out our Christian value of Service by supporting a newly established local charity, The Cancer Bank.

As part of our school-wide focus on serving others, pupils were encouraged to carry out helpful tasks at home to raise funds for those affected by cancer. Some children completed household chores, while others took the initiative to organise their own sponsored events, including sponsored bike rides and walks.

Families were invited to either donate directly to The Cancer Bank or use the funds raised to purchase essential care items needed by cancer patients. Thanks to the generosity and hard work of our school community, a wide range of useful items was collected and a fantastic £585.83 was raised and presented to Dan Theobald, the charity’s founder.

Dan visited school to lead an engaging and informative assembly for our Key Stage 2 children, helping to raise awareness about the impact of cancer and how small acts of kindness can make a big difference.

We are incredibly proud of the compassion, initiative, and commitment shown by our children, who have truly let their lights shine through their support of others in need.

Reception Visit to Local Care Homes – May 2024

In May, our Reception children took part in a very special community visit to local care homes, bringing joy to residents through the power of song and conversation.

The children performed a selection of familiar nursery rhymes, which were warmly received by everyone. A particularly touching moment came when one gentleman joined in with his own rendition of Humpty Dumpty, creating a lovely intergenerational connection.

After singing, the children spent time chatting with the residents. One child excitedly shared, “I spoke to one lady and she was 104!” It was clear that the experience was as meaningful for the children as it was for the residents.

We have since been invited to return regularly—a testament to the positive impact of the visit and the kindness shown by our youngest pupils. Throughout the experience, the children demonstrated exemplary behaviour and truly let their lights shine, living out our Christian values of love, respect and community.

We are proud of how our Reception children represented All Saints’ and look forward to continuing to build these special relationships.

Year 4 Community Afternoon Tea – 3rd May 2024

On Friday 3rd May, our Year 4 children warmly welcomed members of the local community to school for a special Community Afternoon Tea.

The afternoon was filled with conversation, laughter and intergenerational connection. Our pupils enjoyed spending time playing chess and dominoes with our guests—many of whom kindly shared their wisdom, experience and top tips for mastering the games! It was a wonderful opportunity for children to learn from others while forming meaningful relationships with people beyond the school gates.

Hot drinks, biscuits and cakes were served with care by our pupils, who truly embodied our school’s vision to “Let their light shine” (Matthew 5:16) through their kindness, service and hospitality.

It was heartwarming to hear how many of our visitors spoke about the respect, manners and enthusiasm shown by the children. We are incredibly proud of how Year 4 represented our school and lived out our Christian values through this event.

We look forward to planning more of these community afternoons in the future as we continue to strengthen our links and friendships with those around us.

Visit from the Bethany Children’s Choir – November 2023

On 6th November 2023, we were honoured to welcome members of the Bethany Children’s Choir from Tanzania to All Saints’. It had been four years since their last visit and it was heart-warming to hear some of our older pupils fondly recall memories of that special occasion.

The children of the Bethany Choir captivated us with their beautiful singing, vibrant dancing and heartfelt performances, sharing their culture and joy with the whole school. Following their performance, they led a thoughtful question-and-answer session with our Year 5 and 6 pupils, who listened with interest and empathy.

The children of the Bethany Choir are all orphans who have faced considerable hardship, yet they radiated positivity, resilience and gratitude. They spoke not of seeking sympathy, but of finding light even in the darkest of times—a message that deeply resonated with our pupils and aligns powerfully with our Christian vision of ‘letting your light shine’.

This visit provided a valuable opportunity for our children to reflect on the realities of life in different parts of the world, to develop empathy and to appreciate the many blessings in their own lives. It reminded us all of the importance of generosity, compassion and global understanding—core Christian values that we seek to live out each day.

We are proud to have raised £100 in donations to support the Bethany Choir in whatever way they feel will be most helpful. We thank them for their inspiration and look forward to welcoming them again in the future.

Kenya Visit – October 2023

During the October half term, Mrs Collins, accompanied by her two sons, took part in a charity volunteering project in Kenya. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our All Saints’ families, she was able to deliver donations to local schools and orphanages, making a meaningful impact on the lives of many children.

As part of their Rotakids Project, our Year 6 pupils worked hard to fundraise and collect much-needed resources. Among the most treasured donations were footballs and sports kits, which were gratefully received by the children in Kenya.

This experience has helped us to reflect on how fortunate we are at All Saints’. While football is a part of everyday life for many of our pupils, for some children around the world, even something as simple as owning a ball is a luxury.

By supporting this initiative, our children are not only living out our Christian values of compassion, service and generosity, but also developing a deeper understanding of the diverse world in which we live. It is important for our pupils to recognise that, regardless of geography or background, shared interests and kindness can bring people together.
